Sollux panicked as suddenly his mind shifted into clarity and out of the drowsy haze, only to see Aradia lying lifelessly on the ground. Oh God, oh God, her voice had been screaming his name in his head as one of the imminently deceased. They were always indiscriminate and indecipherable, but he had clearly heard Aradia’s voice scream his name.

She was silent now.

“aa! aradia plea2e 2ay my name again” Pale yellow tears gathered in his mismatched eyes as he searched for her body. Where had it gone? Where...? “thiis ha2 two be a dream” he cried out, dropping his glasses that he’d been holding through the delirious spell. Hands gripping at his short hair, he cried out her name again, feeling a tumultuous rise of energy threaten to escape his being by any means necessary.

Tremors racked his body as he came to realize exactly what had happened. Sinking to the ground in despair, he shakily reached for his handheld communication device and opened a chat with Karkat.

Sollux felt he couldn’t breathe, his chest seizing in guilt at what the only possible conclusion was. His headache was so oppressively agonizing, he must’ve flew all the way here and entered strife with Aradia. She had even stronger psychic powers in some respects, but in a duel, he’d win.

She had been screaming.

She had been screaming his name in his head.

But she was silent now. There was no body.

He glanced down at his communication device seeing that Karkat had started trolling him and was pretty much freaking out.

Sollux jumped at the sudden voice behind him, whipping his head around to see Aradia floating, her clothing clearly depicting prior strife. Her eyes were bright white, and even as a troll with odd eyes himself, he couldn’t stop staring at the uncanny feature.

“aa ii thought ii,” he broke himself off and tried again,” ii thought you were gone ii could hear your voiice but then iit vanii2hed.” She stared at him emotionlessly. “are you okay?”

“yes 0kay w0uld be a fine descripti0n i guess i feel 0kay”

Reaching out to her, he felt chills run down his vertical support column. “what happened ii couldnt fiind you you look liike 2omethiing the lu2us dragged iin.”

“y0u murdered me but thats 0kay i suddenly d0nt understand why i was never 0kay n0thing really matters anyway”

This wasn’t like Aradia; it was making his skin crawl. She claimed that she was dead, but that couldn’t be, she was right there and talking and...

“ii flew here and” Sollux thought he was going to be sick. Killing was one thing, he hadn’t killed much; he wasn’t a fan. He preferred to just impose his magnificent hacking skills and mess with others that way. He hadn’t only killed though, he’d killed her.

No. No. He had to get away from here, from this. His near constant headache was doubling in pain, and his eyes felt an overcharged energy threatening to overcome him. Again. Kicking off the ground, he flew faster than he ever had. Golden tears streamed across his cheeks as he sped passed the scenery that had become pretty familiar upon becoming Aradia’s matesprit.
